Facebook Tests 'Find Friends Nearby' Feature

Facebook over the weekend launched a new feature called 'Friendshake', also referred to as 'Find Friends Nearby,' the feature allows those with accounts on the social network to see and find their nearby friends.

'Find Friends Nearby' is available through Facebook's mobile-optimised web interface and the firm's official iOS client, Facebook engineer, Ryan Patterson, explains:
“I built Find Friends Nearby with another engineer for a hackathon project. While it was originally called ‘Friendshake,’ we settled on ‘Find Friends Nearby’ for launch.
For me, the ideal use case for this product is the one where when you’re out with a group of people whom you’ve recently met and want to stay in contact with Facebook search might be effective, or sharing your vanity addresses or business cards, but this tool provides a really easy way to exchange contact information with multiple people with minimal friction.”

'Find Friends Nearby' follows the launch of Facebook's App Center - which is a specialised App Market Place for web applications designed for Facebook, and Facebook Camera - Facebook's mobile photo-sharing application.
