Samsung Galaxy Tab Just Isn’t as ‘Cool’ as the iPad, Says Judge

A UK judge has dismissed Apple's lawsuit against Samsung over the Galaxy Tab, claiming Samsung's tablet just isn't "cool" enough to be confused with Apple's iPad.

Judge Colin Birss ruled in that the Galaxy tablet does not infringe on Apple's registered design, Bloomberg reports.

Judge Birss said they were distintive because they were thinner and had "unusual details" on the back.

The Galaxy tablets "do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design. They are not as cool,' Birss said.

Samsung has already stated that they are pleased with the court's decision.

“Should Apple continue to make excessive legal claims in other countries based on such generic designs, innovation in the industry could be harmed and consumer choice unduly limited,” the company said in a statement.

Apple has 21 days to appeal the decision.
