Google Drones to Protect Endangered Species

Technology has been Released!

Technology has now been released into the wild, with its main purpose to protect the endangered animals of the world. The species that they are going to concentrate on are the ones that poachers are craving, and they are tigers, rhinos and elephants.

Wildlife at Huge Risk

Organisations have recorded a huge increase in the number of animals killed through poaching, especially in the last 12 months, which is a big wake up call for everyone, and technology needs to be introduced to get the advantage on the poachers.

WWF president Carter Roberts said: "We face an unprecedented poaching crisis. The killings are way up.

In five years the number of rhinos killed in South Africa has risen from 13 to 588, according to statistics from Traffic, which monitors the trade in endangered animal parts.

The poaching industry is a black market which exploits the amazing animals we have a privilege to even think about being on the same planet as us, and this is completely illegal and completed hidden from all civilisation to prevent them from being caught, but not anymore!

Time For Change

Google has put in funds to the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to develop new drones, much similar to the ones in which are available to the public, which are then able to be controlled via a tablet pc, enabling the WWF to keep track of animals and pouching activities, giving them a much better indication of where these horrible events are occurring. With the WWF also inputting £3.1 million into the protect, they will also be able to develop software which can track the animals via GPS and also they can pin-point exactly where the attacks are happening, giving the organisation a better fighting chance of capturing and punishing the poachers, with the hope of bringing them to a complete stand still. This will then allow the animals to flourish again under the security of the people who want to protect them, not exploit them.
