WASHINGTON: Google reported disruptions on several of its services including Google Mail, for reasons that were not immediately known.

The apps status dashboard of the world's most popular search engine indicated "service disruptions" for Google Mail, Google Drive, Google Documents, Google Spreadsheets and Google Presentations.

It also reported a total "service outage" for its "admin control panel / API" used by administrators of Google Apps domains.

"Our team is continuing to investigate this issue," said Google Apps in a service update. "This issue is affecting a significant subset of users... Thank you for your patience."

If you hadn't of already know, Microsoft have released a Metro-Style Outlook.com email service, and with it comes a new chance to claim an email address that could actually be your real name, a noun, a proper word, or at least something with lots of random numbers tacked on to the end of ti.

If you have a Hotmail account, Microsoft will give you a chance to use your Hotmail address as an alias and "rename" to an @outlook.com address, but the name is not guaranteed to be the same - so be quick!
