Google Play, also known as Android Market has reached an app download milestone having reached the 15th billion mark!
Google didn't think that it wasn't worth issuing any statement to note the achievement. The reason might be that Apple is still ahead of android in app downloads, having hit the 25 billion mark back in March. Apple reached the 15 billion milestone back in July last year.
From recent estimates from Google taken in January, Android is seeing over 1 billion app downloads each month, whereas Apple receives 1.25 billion. However Apple announced that in March their app download rate fell by a third meaning the gap is closing between Google's and Apple's app store.
