From the makers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious we bring you.... Sinister!

Although the Sinister film has been out now for a few weeks, it definitely deserves a review due to its amazing story and fantastic ending which puts a great end to a good film.

The story starts with a family, who move away from home to an isolated town due to the fathers fantasy (Played by Ethan Hawke) with writing horror stories. With his previous book Kentucky Blood causing much controversy due to the story being about real life serial crimes, there is much doubt within the family of whether the move to the new crime scene is the right thing to do. They arrive at the town discovering a brutal murder committed by an unknown killer. With a broken branch of a tree in the families new garden, maybe you'd think that was due to the wind or a storm? would you think that it was used as a counterweight to hang four children? When this is discovered, the fathers addiction to real life crime stories becomes fulfilled with the potential award winning book he could make from it.

During the film Ethan Hawke discovers a box in the middle of the attic containing the classic film strips and a video player, which was able to play these films. The confusion begins when you notice the films are all labelled with specific events relating to the killed family, which sucks Ethan into the world of serial killings. Further investigation into the event reveals that this wasn't the only killing that had been committed.

Sinister Himself

Sinister is a masked character within the film. During the film its discovered that his serial killings are all related to one another, which first date back to the 1960s. His motive in life is to abduct and 'absorb' the soles of children, the reason for this is unknown but evidence within the film shows that it is part of an old pagan deity name Bughuul, in which the family are drugged and killed, which enables Sinister to abduct a child from each of the families  to take them into his 'realm' and absorb their soles. This is discovered due to that within every killing there was the exact same symbol which relates to Bughuul.

Trailer

The trailer (shown below) gives an insight into the film and its a must see for anyone who hasn't experienced it yet! As its still in cinemas I would reccomend making this the next film you plan to see, because of the detailed story with a stunning but strange ending which I will leave you, the readers of Rumournal, to find out.
