Xbox 360 Could Be Banned In The USA

A judge from US has recommended that the Xbox 360 should be banned from sale in the US following the discovery that Microsoft has infringed four of Motorola's patents relating to the use of wireless technology in controllers and H.264 which is a modern video compression format. Microsoft was found to have infringed these patents in April, but the recommendation to ban Xbox 360 sales was only issued on Monday 23rd of May.

The ban is just a recommendation of what the judge thinks should happen and doesn't mean that the ban will be put into place. The decision will first go to the International Trade Commission.

Microsoft commented in a statement by saying: "The recommendation by the administrative law judge is the first step in the process leading to the Commission's finial ruling. We remain confident the Commission will ultimately rule in Microsoft's favour in this case."

The International Trade Commission now has until August 23rd to decide whether or not to follow the ruling. If they decide that the console should face an sales ban, the decision will then go to the Obama administration for a 60 day review. If they choose to sing off the verdict, the ban will come in action.
