In an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated Apple would bring "some production" of its Mac models to the US.

"Next year we are going to bring some production to the U.S. on the Mac. We’ve been working on this for a long time, and we were getting closer to it. It will happen in 2013. We’re really proud of it. We could have quickly maybe done just assembly, but it’s broader because we wanted to do something more substantial. So we’ll literally invest over $100 million. This doesn’t mean that Apple will do it ourselves, but we’ll be working with people, and we’ll be investing our money."

The company has just mailed out invitations to an event in San Francisco on September 12th at 10AM PT at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts - where Apple historically launched new products.

The next iPhone has been heavily rumoured over the past few months, with multiple photos and video of alleged iPhone 5 parts, casings and rather detailed information about the new screen technology, radios and other internal changes. Based on the invite in the image above, it looks like this device will in face be called the "iPhone 5."

Apple is also rumoured to be introducing an "iPad mini" this year - a smaller version of the iPad. but that announcement is expected to come in October at a separate event.
