We are Back on the Road

Following the miss-hap with Apple maps and the controversial software, leading many people stranded for up to two days, Google maps has now been available back on the IOS systems for 3-4 days and it seems to have had a very warm welcome from the IOS users, after statistics show that after just two days of the software being published, it was downloaded 10 Million times!

With the previous built-in maps that Apple already provide, the Google Maps software provides a much more advanced mapping software to compete with the original Apple software which is part of the IOS 6. The new software brings all of the features that you will see on the internet version of Google Maps, in that it now includes the very popular street view, so your able to follow yourself down the road to make sure that you can get to your destination as quickly and easy as possible.

"We're excited for the positive reception of Google Maps for iPhone around the world," Huber said. "Congratulations to the Maps Team on the recognition for the passion and hard work they poured into it, for this release and over the last 7+ years."

Surprise!

When the software came out, there was a huge surprise due to the fact that the software was only reported to be publish hours before it was put onto the App Store. After that Google Maps quickly jumped to the top of the free apps chart on IOS, enabling Google to expand and also to constantly provide their reliable service to as many people as possible.

Below shows the latest video on the Google maps introduction.

Looks like Google have done it once again!

Looks like Google have done it once again!

Google's awaited new maps app has finally hit the App store for iPhone. Some iOS 6 users are still unhappy because there is no way to make Google's Maps app the default maps app.

The new Google Maps also offeres a number of enhancements beyond what was offered when it powered the built-in Maps app on iOS 5 and earlier, most notably turn-by-turn directions. The absense of that feature from the built-in Maps had been a big let down for the two companies, with its absence putting iOS at a disadvantage relative to Android and Google unwilling to add the feature to Maps for iOS unless Apple made concessions such as greater Google branding within the app and integration with Google Latitude.

"Navigate your world with Google Maps, now available for iPhone. Get comprehensive, accurate and easy-to-use maps with built-in Google local search, voice guided turn-by-turn navigation, public transit directions, Street View and more. Use Google Maps to discover great places to eat, drink, shop and play, with ratings and reviews from people you trust. Sign in to save your favorite places and quickly access all your past searches and directions from your computer, right on your phone."
A number of reports had indicated that Google was working toward submission of its standalone Maps app, but some Google employees were reportedly pessimistic about its chances of approval. [Google Maps iTunes Link]

There's a new 45-degree imagery in 21 US cities and seven elsewhere.

45-degree imagery is what Google uses to build its 3D models. Bing Maps got a big update recently by adding a high resolution database, and also adding 230,004 square kilometres of territory.
