Panasonic is showing off a 20 inch Windows 8 tablet prototype with a 3840 x 2560 pixel display. The tablet weighs in at 5.3 pounds but this product may never be released as a real product, but the demo model on display at the Consumer Electronics Show works pretty well.

So what's inside the tablet? Well it has an Intel Core i5-3427U Ivy Bridge processor, NVIDIA GeForce graphics, 4GB  of memory, and 128GB solid state disk.

It runs Windows 8 Pro, and supports both Metro-style full screen apps and desktop style apps. You would think that with a 4K display the desktop would look ridiculously small, but it turns out that there is a way to fix this problem. All you have to do is set the Windows 8 "change the size of all items" tool to 200 percent, text and graphics look pretty good on the tablet.

But its not all glory with Panasonic's tablet because things start to slow down when you run software that can seriously tax the CPU and GPU cores. For instance, Panasonic is showing off a Blueprint app for creating, viewing, and editing very high resolution images for architects and other designers. It took a really long time for the graphics to fully load in the app.

All the basic tasks like switiching windows, viewing images, and navigating Windows 8 worked well and smooth through the demo.

The prototype measures 18.7" x 13/1" x 0/4", gets about 2 hours of battery life, has a front-facing 720p camera, and features a USB 2.0 port, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0.

You can theoretically pick up the tablet and carry it around - but it's clearly just a little too heavy for comfortable one-handed use. This isn't a tablet designed for light reading or web surfing, but it could be great for multi-player gaming, serious artwork (it works wit a digital pen), or other niche activities.

Today Xbox have released a new update for the Xbox 360 dashboard, this occurs yearly, and to be perfectly honest I wasn't expecting any dramatic over hauls of what they currently have, but there have been a few significant tweaks to the dashboard.
Well this is it! The new dashboard, obviously it does look better when there is a premium theme as the background, but the actual dashboard is the main focus. As you can probably see, this layout is almost identical to Microsoft's brand new operating system 'Windows 8'. I knew for a fact that there would be some similarities between the two of them, but I did not think that they would look this much alike! Although I approve of the new Xbox dashboard, I feel that they could have really gone out on a limb and made it something special, something to appeal to more customers, and increase their sales, as good as it is, it doesn't look like Microsoft have used maximum effort in designing this operating system.
'Windows 8'
There are a few new features on the dashboard (all be it small ones). The most significant one, I think is  the introduction of Internet explorer, which is extremely useful and I really am quite fond of this idea. I felt that the Xbox has always been lacking in the web browser department, the reason being that the Playstation 3 had one, and the 360 did not. Now that has changed I feel that the Xbox's browser 1-up's the PS3's. The reason being that Internet Explorer has been around for quite some time, and Microsoft have had the time to enhance it, and listen to the constructive criticisms of their customers. Whilst PS3 have made a browser specifically for Playstation (PS3, PSVita, PSP), which is an advantage, but I think it is more of a disadvantage. This is because Internet Explorer is used for both computers, and the Xbox, (although some adjustments had to be made to allow it to run on xbox) and this means that Microsoft will have previous experiences with fixing their browser, ensuring that it is as safe as possible, so if any problems are found with the Xbox Internet Explorer, they will be able to fix them with ease.

Amazon has just rolled out its Appstore in five European markets. The store is a rival to Google Play, and sells Android apps for phones and tablets. Hopefully, we will start to see exclusive titles on the store. The store is now live in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. With its Ecosystem now in place, in the largest markets, there is very little stopping Amazon from brining its kindle Fire tablet - or its rumoured smartphone - over to Europe.

Amazon is holding a press conference on September 6th where we hope to see the new Kindle fire tablet kitted out with all the latest and greatest hardware, so stay tuned for more Amazon news soon.

Google's beastly Nexus 7 is now available in France, Germany, and Spain. The Prices are numerically the same as those in the US, only denominated in Euros €199 for the 8GB model and €249 for 16GB, and they work out to be the same price as the UK (£159 for the 8GB model and £199 for the 16GB model).

We still don't know when exactly it will be available in European stores but ordering now from Google Play should take 3-5 days to be delivered. And to the rest of Europe, we'll let you know as soon as we hear anything.

HTC is reportedly planning a comeback attempt with an unnamed tablet that will "definitely" arrive sometime in the future, according to PC Advisor. The Company unsuccessfully tried to enter the tablet market back in May of 2011with the HTC Flyer, but it was widely considered a flop and production was canceled before the end of the year. Another HTC tablet, the Jetstream, also failed to make major impact.

Details on HTC's upcoming tablet are still very slim, but there is some good news. A spokesperson told PC Advisor that it will have a "unique selling point" to separate it from competition, such as Apple's iPad, Amazon's Kindle Fire, Google's recently released Nexus 7 and Microsoft's upcoming Suface tablet.

The new tablet will most likely run a HTC version of Android OS and will follow suit with HTC's previous tablets.

HTC became quite popular from their state-of-the-art Android smartphones, but the company has had very little luck expanding into the tablet market while its smartphones are storming the market.

Which features would HTC's new tablet need to have to make you want to buy one? Share your thoughts in the comments below or on Twitter or Google Plus.

Microsoft has unveiled a major tablet initiative to compete with Apple's iPad, Google's Android, and its own PC hardware partners.
The Microsoft Surface is 10.6 inches and powered by Windows 8. Microsoft Surface is coming in two distinct versions, both equipped with touch screens. One will be powered by an ARM processor and will be more like a traditional tablet running Windows RT. The other one will be powered by Intel's 2nm Ivy Bridge chips running the desktop version of Windows 8.

Reported by The Verge:

"The Windows RT version is just 9.3mm thin, weighs 1.5lbs, includes a built-in kickstand and is the first PC with a vapor-deposited (PVD) magnesium case, according to Microsoft. It will ship in 32GB or 64GB versions.

Microsoft's Intel-based Surface tablet will run Windows 8 Pro, with a thickness of 13.5mm, a weight of 1.9lb, and USB 3.0 support. This particular version will also include magnesium casing and a built-in kickstand, but will ship with either 64GB or 128GB storage. The Intel version will include additional digital ink support through a pen that magnetizes to the body of the tablet."

Microsoft will sell two Smart Cover-like devices that attach magnetically to the Surface. Unlike Apple's Smart Cover, Microsoft's Touch Cover and Type Cover turn into a full-sized keyboard complete with a built-in trackpad. Microsoft says that using the Touch Cover is "twice as efficient as typing on glass". A Striking blow at the iPad's on-screen keyboard.

At the moment, Microsoft has not shared any information on the pricing or availability of the products.

So the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is here and is ready for you.

What we have heard so far is that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 delivers a mostly pure Ice Cream Sandwich experience for only $250. The tablet beats the Kindle Fire in extras which are:

  1. Dual Cameras
  2. Expandable Memory
  3. TV remote control functionality
The bad things that we have heard about this device is that the screen does not look as pretty as other PLS displays and the camera is poor compared to other tablet devices.

To conclude this review, we think that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is great for the price. You get awesome features and the full android experience. You cannot go wrong for $250.
