Apple has just posted two new iPhone 5 television ads. The ads are titled 'Orchestra' and 'Turkey'. Orchestra focuses on the microphones that Apple uses to reduce background noise during calls. Turkey shows off the Shared Photo Stream feature of iOS 6.

"Excuse me, Maestro? Bring it down please!
Better.
That's what happens to background noise when you're making a call on this.
The microphone here picks up the sounds around you and helps turn them down.
So when the worlds gets a noisy, calls sound better. "

"Well, it's that time of year again.
You know, picture taking season?
And, with Photo Stream, you can share all the photos you want.
With just the people you want.
It's easy as pie. Mmmm... pie."

Fortune reports on a new analyst report published by Pacific Crest's Andy Hargreaves. The report was immediately written after a meeting on Wednesday with Apple's Peter Oppenheimer and Eddy Cue.

Hargreaves' thought after that meeting that an Apple television would be "extremely unlikely" in the near term. Hargreaves writes:

Relative to the television market, Eddy Cue, Apple SVP of Internet Software and Services, reiterated the company's mantra that it will enter markets where it feels it can create great customer experiences and address key problems. The key problems in the television market are the poor quality of the user interface and the forced bundling of pay TV content, in our view. While Apple could almost certainly create a better user interface, Mr. Cue's commentary suggested that this would be an incomplete solution from Apple's perspective unless it could deliver content in a way that is different from the current multichannel pay TV model.

Fortune's Philip Elmer-DeWitt pointed out that SEC rules prohibit sharing insider information that might have material affect on the company's stock, so Hargreaves' interpretation is just - his interpretation of Apple's comments about delivering "great customer experience and addressing key problems."

Apple has been rumoured to be entering into the television market for some time now.

Today, Hulu has agreed a deal with the BBC to co-produce a new season of the UK comedy The Think Of IT. This marks the first of Hulu's international co-production agreement. As part of the deal, Hulu will have exclusive US rights to premiere the popular political satire, which has generated three seasons and the TV series may even feature a full length movie. Already, Hulu has started uploading past seasons of the show to its website.

The show will still continue to be made in the UK at the BBC, but will now be credited as produced "in association with Hulu".

"The Radical new MacBook Pro with Retina display. Innovation en every dimension."

Apple never really advertises specific Mac products in television ads. But with the revolutionary new form factor and the breakthrough Retina Display on the MacBook Pro, Apple is clearly wanting to draw a widespread of attention to this amazing product.

Netflix for most people seems a relatively new business, however they have been operational since 1997. The idea of Netflix is that you can watch unlimited, high quality streamed films and TV shows for a minuscule price of £5.99 or $7.99 a month. For almost £6 or $8 a month Netflix provides you with an enormous library of content with over 6000 titles in the UK across multiple platforms such as consoles, computers and Internet TV's and also surpasses LoveFilm's (Netflix's rival) library. I believe that Netflix will continue to grow and grow into a worldwide business and a household name, when Internet TV's start to kick off.

Netflix uk review
Netflix's Home Page
Netflix contains no hidden fee's or extra costs, just the fee of £5.99 or $7.99 a month. However the only negative I could think of with Netflix is that it uses high amounts of bandwidth to run, meaning if you live in a remote area like I do, Netflix runs very slow or not at all. Also if you have a cap on your Internet usage you could find unwanted costs in your bill at the end of the month from your ISP (Internet Service Provider). But I believe the benefits majorly out way the negatives as Netflix offers a variety of Full HD films and TV shows (if your Internet speed is fast enough), a recommendation of what TV shows and Films you might enjoy based on previous views  and the first month is completely free!

FOR:

Netflix's App on the iPad
  • Low price
  • No extra costs
  • Unlimited streaming
  • Multi-device support

AGAINST:

  • Needs speedy broadband

'YouTube is the 3rd most
 popular website in the world'
As technology advances, and we become more dependant on the Internet, you really do have to question if in the years to come 'will TV become redundant?' Even now, in the year 2012 there are so many alternatives to watching programs on the TV. For example, some people do not have a favourite TV show anymore, they have a favourite channel on YouTube. RayWilliamJohnson, is the most subscribed person on YouTube (when you subscribe to a channel, it means that you will receive e-mails every time they post a video) he earns millions of dollars a year!

'WattieTV Logo'
YouTube is used for many things, tutorials, vlogs, gaming, reviews, etc. I have a friend who has a gaming channel (WattieTV) and I believe that his channel is coming along extremely well, and for anyone reading that wishes to view Alex's channel 'Click Here'. I believe that this is the future of media, not just this channel but the idea of being able to view a TV series online, where anybody can create and upload their own videos allows for their to be more variety out there. The reason I say this is because on TV is restricted in many ways, because the broadcasting companies (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky, etc.) only have on the TV what they think will get the most views. So they are basing all of their judgments not on the quality of the program, but whether it will 'speak' to a wide audience. Although there are some disadvantages,  such as the fact that you will need at least a bandwidth speed of 2 MB/s to ensure that you could watch a video from YouTube without it having to buffer half way through the video, and also it is not as reliable as TV because you are relying on a channel to provide you with entertainment, and if they cannot upload for whatever reason, then you will not be provided with your entertainment. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but overall I think that Internet channels, blogs, etc, (not just YouTube) will become the future of our viewing pleasure, where you can just simply subscribe to somebody who is providing you with something that you want to watch, and not just making do with some of the catastrophic programs that currently grace our televisions!

Is YouTube the future dominant media?
