So last week, iFixit took apart a Retina MacBook Pro, and now, this week, the company has taken a closer look at the display assembly. In iFixit's 16-step guide, iFixit removes literally everything from the display assembly. It is quite amazing to see all of the films, sheets and other components that go into the LCD display.

iFixit does not assign a repairability score to the component because there is no way to repair the display assembly. The company states that "if anything in the display assembly breaks, you'll need to replace the whole thing."

Apple has just released a new TV ad for the Retina MacBook Pro. The ad focuses on the breakthrough Retina display that was included in the machine which was unveiled at WWDC 2012.

"The Radical new MacBook Pro with Retina display. Innovation en every dimension."

Apple never really advertises specific Mac products in television ads. But with the revolutionary new form factor and the breakthrough Retina Display on the MacBook Pro, Apple is clearly wanting to draw a widespread of attention to this amazing product.

On the first day of the WWDC announcements, there were multiple breathtaking additions to Apple's repertoire. One of the most significant of them was the new addition to the MacBook Pro family. Apple have released a MacBook Pro with a Retina Display. A Retina Display means that the screen that you are looking at is at such a high quality, you are not able to see the pixels that are on the screen. It is capable of a 2880x1800 resolution which is 220 PPI (Pixels Per Inch), this means that you will not be able to see any of the pixels on the screen, unless you start zooming in on the page that you are on. Also with this new MacBook Pro they have discontinued the disc drive, and seemed to have replaced it with an SDXC card slot. Also Apple have added two USB 3 ports, a HDMI port, an extra thunderbolt port. There are also many internal components that have been changed, one of the main changes is the fact that they have now added a solid state drive instead of an hard disk drive. Overall, I do like the look of this new MacBook Pro, I do think that it is a tiny bit expensive, and by a tiny bit, I mean substantially. The internal spec from both varieties of the new MacBook Pro are very intriguing, I think Apple have really pushed the boat out with the capabilities of a notebook this size.

Apple's Mac Pro and MacBook Pro lines will be thoroughly refreshed at this year's WWDC, 9to5Mac reports, citing "reliable sources"

First, the Mac Pro. A Mac Pro will launch at WWDC, making the Mac Pro desktop's first update in nearly two years! The machine will come in three configurations: two standard models and a server model. Here are the three configurations:

Normal configuration: 3.2GHz quad-core processor, 6GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, and the ATI Radeon 5770 graphics chip.
Normal configuration: 2.4GHz 12-core processor, 12GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, and the ATI Radeon 5770 graphics chip.
Server configuration: 3.2GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of RAM, Two 1TB hard drives

Next is the MacBook Pros. we think that Apple will be announcing both next-generation MacBook Pros with a thinner design, Retina Display, and a spec-bump! Apple will release a spec-bumped 13 inch and 15 inch MacBook Pros. Here is the details on the spec-bumped 13 inch and 15 inch MacBook Pros:

13.3 inch: 2.5GHz dual core processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive
13.3 inch: 2.9GHz dual core processor, 8GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive
15.4 inch: 2.3GHz quad core processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive
15.4 inch: 2.6GHz quad core processor, 8GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive (BTO upgrades to 2.7GHz quad core and 1TB HD will be available)

With WWDC 2012 coming up tomorrow, we thought that we should have a rumour round up of all the rumours that we have featured.

Apple has already announced that it will be previewing iOS 6 and OS X Mountain Lion at WWDC on Monday, and Apple is also expected to introduce a number of new Macs with additional improvements.

iOS 6
Ok, first up is iOS 6. Apple hasn't really been keeping this a secret, but it will play a major role in WWDC 2012. As we have mentioned in our blog, Apple has been putting up Banners featuring the un-announced version of iOS. We will expect that Apple will go over a few new features in detail at the conference. We think that one of the biggest features will be Apples own mapping solution which has been reported by multiple sites including us. Here is a list of rumoured features for the latest version of iOS:

OS X Mountain Lion

OS X Mountain lion is another product that we all know that Apple will be discussing at the conference. Back in February, Apple announced the new version of OS X. The features included: Notification Center, Messages, Reminders, Game Center, and AirPlay. We have also mentioned some other features that may included in OS X:

Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that iCloud is a strategy for the next decade. We have seen some of the new features that Apple is planning to introduce to iCloud in iOS 6 because of a mistake from Apple:

MacBook Airs, MacBook Pros, Mac Pros, iMacs and Retina-Display

Rumours have be stirring around that Apple may introduce a new line of Macs at the WWDC. We have also heard that Retina-class displays on Apple's new Macs maybe coming. Apple has already built in Retina-display support in OS X  and we also expect Apple to release better hardware for their new line of Macs. Here are some more rumours that we have noted:

Apple TV

Apple has been rumoured to bring a television set to the market late this year or next year. Apple may even show the new operating system for the TV at next weeks WWDC. There have been more rumours about the Apple TV and that Apple will be introducing an SDK to open up the current Apple TV set-top box to third-party developers. All of these claims may not happen next week because most of these TV claims have come from a single uncorroborated source.

iPhone 5

So we have been hearing a lot about the next-generation iPhone. The iPhone is rumoured to be taller with a 4-inch display but not making the phone any wider. We have also featured many incredible mockups of the new next-generation iPhone, but with the highest-profile leak so far being a hands-on-video that shows the back cover of the device, as well as a smaller dock connector and the headphone jack being at the bottom of the device. However, it is unlikely that Apple will introduce the next-generation iPhone at next weeks WWDC. Most observers believe that Apple will stick to the September/October timeframe which was seen last year with the iPhone 4S.

The WWDC 2012 Keynote is set to kick off at 10am Pacific time on Monday, June 11th. We will be providing a live text and photo coverage here.

The World Wide Developer Conference, one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year for Apple fanatics and tech geeks alike. Only this year there will be one colossal difference, no Steve Jobs... Even though the man himself will not be there to present the new and innovative ideas that Apple will provide to us, Tim Cook will suffice. There are several major announcements that are likely in this years WWDC. But before I get onto the details I would just like to inform you that Rumournal will be covering the WWDC via our website, you will be able to see all of the information blogged onto the website live, to view this just go to our website during June 11-15, and it will be across the tab bar, and all you have to do is click on the tab and away you go.

The WWDC tickets sold out on the 25th April, and the developers that paid to go to this conference had to pay $1500 per head! That is an absolutely insane amount of money, this means that altogether if you purchased every seat at the WWDC it would cost $7,500,000! Although if I had the money, I would absolutely love to go to one of the conferences just to say that I have been to one of them in my life. Already people are speculating the new products and information that Apple will provide this year. One of the most talked about possibilities this year, are the new shape Macs. Apple are intending to release a 2012 MacBook Pro in May, and then a newer lighter version in June. This is just a speculation and thinking about it logically, it would not make sense if they released one in May and then a newer version in June. Supposedly the new MacBook Pro will be thinner, but not inspired to look like a Macbook Air. I think that the Macbook Air will become the new standard Macbook (due to fact that they have discontinuted the standard white MacBook's). Below is a mock up of the new MBP, and as you can see, it is only a photoshopped mock up, but it does look aesthetically pleasing, and I think many people would be extremely happy with this design. Although as you can see from the mock up, there is no CD drive. Apple may very well be discontinuing CD drives altogether on their products and I do not think that there will be a replacement for the CD drive, although Apple will most likely just use either the USB slots, or the SD card slot. This MBP will definitely lighter, and everybody has their own opinion on what new features the new Macbook Pro will provide.

iOS 6 will also be one of the main features at WWDC 2012 along with the new iPhone. It would be extremely illogical for Apple not to feature any information on the new iPhone, because currently the 4s cannot compete with all of the new phones that are being released, such as the Samsung Galaxy S3. If Apple provide no information on the new iPhone then their shares will plummet. The reason for this is because the share holders basically run the company, and the hardware that is within the 4s is about 2 years old, and it cannot compete with the phones being released this year. The only reason that the shares in Apple have not decreased is due to the fact that they are anticipating the new iPhone at this conference. With the new phone inevitably being released at the WWDC, iOS will obviously follow to keep the operating system on the iPhone fresh. Each person has their own opinion of what they think will be in the new iOS. According to some pictures, there are going to be application that use 3-D images, although this could be photoshopped, if this was an application that was on iOS 6 it could possibly use the same kind of technology that the 3DS uses.

WWDC will be the biggest event that Apple have ever presented. There is so much information that will be presented between the 11-15 June. Not all of the information that will be presented at WWDC is on this page, there is just too much information to put into one post. There will be a live stream of WWDC throughout the 4 days on our website, also there is a poll on the right side of the website that would be extremely helpful if you could fill in.

Yes this is true! You have read that right, you have not made any mistakes reading the title. Its true. I saw this and I thought it was a little silly...

Theres a group of artists in Australia, who (using aromatic ingredients sourced from suppliers in southern France) claim to have made a fragrance which resembles the smell of a freshly-opened or recently-unsealed Apple products, mainly the Macbook Pro. The team features Jarrah de Kuijer, Simon McGlinn, and Gavin Bell. Their company's name 'Air Aroma' and they have brought the sense to life.

This is how they do it:
"To replicate the smell a brand new unopened Apple [portable] was sent to our fragrance lab in France. From there, professional perfume makers used the scents they observed unboxing the new Apple computer to source fragrance samples.
Air Aroma fragrance designers then used these samples as ingredients to create a range of signature blend fragrances. The blends, each with unique recipes were then tested in the Air Aroma laboratory until a final fragrance was ultimately selected."

Once the researchers had completed their testing, the Macbook pro was sent back to australia - (at 50,000kms).

At the moment they have no plans for mass-manufacturing the fragrance but they do however want to plan to show off the fragrance at an art exhibition in Melbourne from April 20 and May 12.
