The new iTunes 11 has finally been released two months after Apple's Media Event. The new software brings a number of enhancements including a redesigned store, simplified player, and new iCloud features.


- Completely Redesigned. iTunes makes it more fun to explore and enjoy your music, movies, and TV shows. You'll love the beautiful edge-to-edge design, custom designs for each album, movie, or TV show in your library, and getting personal recommendations any time you click in the Store. 

- A New Store. The iTunes Store has been completely redesigned and now features a clean look that makes it simpler than ever to see what's hot and discover new favorites. 

- Play purchases from iCloud. Your music, movie, and TV show purchases in iCloud now appear inside your library. Just sign-in with your Apple ID to see them. Double-click to play them directly from iCloud or download a copy you can sync to a device or play while offline. 

- Up Next. It's now simple to see which songs are playing next, all from a single place. Just click the Up Next icon in the center display and they'll instantly appear. You can even reorder, add, or skip songs whenever you like. 

- New MiniPlayer. You can now do a whole lot more with a lot less space. In addition to showing what's playing, MiniPlayer now includes album art, adds Up Next, and makes it easy to search for something new to play - all from a smaller and more elegant design. 

- Improved search. It's never been easier to find what you're looking for in iTunes. Just type in the search field and you'll instantly see results from across your entire library. Select any result and iTunes takes you right to it. 

- Playback syncing. iCloud now remembers your place in a movie or TV show for you. Whenever you play the same movie or episode from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it will continue right where you left off.

The update is currently available through Software Update in the Mac App Store, and Apple should be updating its iTunes pages shortly.

Spotify this afternoon has released an update where you can now listen to Spotify Radio on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Spotify radio is a free-to-listen radio service which will allow those without a monthly subscription to listen to music on the service on both iPhone and iPad.

This is only available is the U.S to begin with. It is filled with audio ads, and has ultimately been designed to get you to cough up the $9.99 per month. 

"We found those that use radio are really some of the most highly engaged users of Spotify," Said Charlie Hellman, Spotify's vice president of product. "They stay longer and are more likely to upgrade."

Spotify Radio has already been pushed out to Spotify's iOS client as an over-the-air remote update. Spotify Radio will arrive on other platforms as a separate app for a set monthly fee.

Recently, over 600,000 of the Mac users who live in English speaking countries around the globe have been infected by the Flashback virus. The virus targets a hole in the security within the Java which is installed on the Mac (which is included on the OS X). The virus was designed to steal personal information from your Mac (Bank details, passwords, etc.) without the user knowing that this is happening.

I've had experience with this infection because my Mac became infected with the Flashback virus. The way that this happened was that a Flash Player installation popped up onto my screen, and it looked completely legitimate. For this reason, I just carried on with the installation as normal instead of clicking the 'No' option. Only after I had installed this I received a text from my friend saying that I had been spamming him with e-mails, so I then researched on the web what was the cause of this, and it turned out that I had a varient of the Flashback virus.

I found that the best way to deal with this was to wait for the Java update that Apple were due to release 2 days after I had discovered that my Mac was infected, so I decided not to mess about in Terminal like multiple websites that I went on to suggested that I do. Gladly I can say that the wait paid off, and It seems as if none of my account details were stolen (Touch wood). If you have been affected by the Flashback virus, and you do not know what to do, click on the Apple icon on the top left hand corner of your screen, and then click on 'Software Update'. Once the bar has loaded, if you haven't already, there should be a Java update within the box, and then all you need to do is click 'Install'. After you have done this you should be in the all clear!
