Bloomberg reports that Apple is preparing a major overhaul of its iTunes software to more closely integrate its iCloud services and add new features for sharing music.
"With an increasing amount of content available on the store, the overhaul is intended to improve how people manage all their files, one person said. That includes changes to how users find new material and how they access what they already own on different Apple devices, said one person.Apple's iCloud efforts will improve organisation of users' own content while also the company is also considering splitting out some functions of iTunes as they did on the new Podcast app for iOS 6
One of the main ways Apple will attempt to improve discovery is by making it easier for people to share songs, a popular feature of Spotify Ltd.’s music-subscription service. Apple has been negotiating with major record labels for rights that would let a user listen to a song sent to them from a friend for free, one person said."
Apple is also looking to include more multimedia content in the iTunes Store, requesting more photos and music videos from artists to help broaden its offerings.
The revamped iTunes application is set to launch before the end of the year and is said to be one of the largest sets of changes since the Itunes Store's debut in 2003. As announced at its Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month, Apple is also working to improve the iTunes experience on iOS, by revamping its digital store apps in iOS 6 so that users can discover new content more easily.

iOS 6
Ok, first up is iOS 6. Apple hasn't really been keeping this a secret, but it will play a major role in WWDC 2012. As we have mentioned in our blog, Apple has been putting up Banners featuring the un-announced version of iOS. We will expect that Apple will go over a few new features in detail at the conference. We think that one of the biggest features will be Apples own mapping solution which has been reported by multiple sites including us. Here is a list of rumoured features for the latest version of iOS:
OS X Mountain Lion
OS X Mountain lion is another product that we all know that Apple will be discussing at the conference. Back in February, Apple announced the new version of OS X. The features included: Notification Center, Messages, Reminders, Game Center, and AirPlay. We have also mentioned some other features that may included in OS X:
- OS X Mountain Lion Adding Offline Safari Reading List and Dictation to Mac
- iOS-like automatic downloads for Apps
iCloud
Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that iCloud is a strategy for the next decade. We have seen some of the new features that Apple is planning to introduce to iCloud in iOS 6 because of a mistake from Apple:
MacBook Airs, MacBook Pros, Mac Pros, iMacs and Retina-Display
Rumours have be stirring around that Apple may introduce a new line of Macs at the WWDC. We have also heard that Retina-class displays on Apple's new Macs maybe coming. Apple has already built in Retina-display support in OS X and we also expect Apple to release better hardware for their new line of Macs. Here are some more rumours that we have noted:
- Apple to Release Thinner Retina MacBook Pros at WWDC
- Apple to Update Nearly Entire Mac Lineup at WWDC
Apple TV
Apple has been rumoured to bring a television set to the market late this year or next year. Apple may even show the new operating system for the TV at next weeks WWDC. There have been more rumours about the Apple TV and that Apple will be introducing an SDK to open up the current Apple TV set-top box to third-party developers. All of these claims may not happen next week because most of these TV claims have come from a single uncorroborated source.
iPhone 5
So we have been hearing a lot about the next-generation iPhone. The iPhone is rumoured to be taller with a 4-inch display but not making the phone any wider. We have also featured many incredible mockups of the new next-generation iPhone, but with the highest-profile leak so far being a hands-on-video that shows the back cover of the device, as well as a smaller dock connector and the headphone jack being at the bottom of the device. However, it is unlikely that Apple will introduce the next-generation iPhone at next weeks WWDC. Most observers believe that Apple will stick to the September/October timeframe which was seen last year with the iPhone 4S.

WWDC 2012 Rumour Round Up!
With WWDC 2012 coming up tomorrow, we thought that we should have a rumour round up of all the rumours that we have featured.
Apple has already announced that it will be previewing iOS 6 and OS X Mountain Lion at WWDC on Monday, and Apple is also expected to introduce a number of new Macs with additional improvements.
iOS 6

All you have to do is follow this link, log in to MobileMe with your Mobile Me account, and fill out your mailing information. Apple will then send you a Snow Leopard DVD for free."
Mac OS X Snow Leopard is still on the Apple Online store for just $29 but that wont be for long. This is a targeted program that is intended for MobileMe members who need to upgrade their systems in order to move to iCloud. Apple are not giving the general price cut now, they are making it for free.
